FUTURE EVENTS at ASHWELLTHORPE VILLAGE HALL

SATURDAY 6 DECEMBER 2014 – Doors open at 7.00 p.m. for Eyes Down at 7.30 p.m. at an evening of Bingo fun organised by “Johnny Numbers” and his assistant. Lots of interesting prizes and some super raffle prizes, many donated by local businesses.

WEDNESDAY 24 DECEMBER 2014 – The Christmas Cameo family gathering will again be held this Christmas Eve at the Village Hall to meet up with friends and have a glass of mulledwine, a mince pie or sausage roll. From 5.30 p.m. hopefully to coincide with Father Christmas’ progress through the village.

SATURDAY 17 JANUARY 2015 – The legendary Quiz ‘N’ Chips night is on again with our quizmasters Ray and Sue posing a good mix of answerable and unanswerable questions – every question will be answered correctly by some team or other no doubt! Maximum team number of 6 people per table. Doors open at 7.00 p.m. for the questioning to begin sharp on 7.30 p.m. Tickets cost £8.00 each in advance to include your fish ‘n’ chips, or sausage ‘n’ chips or vegge burger ‘n’ chips. TUESDAY 27 JANUARY 2015 – The Annual General Meeting of Ashwellthorpe Village Hall Committee will be held tonight starting at 7.30 p.m. Come along and have your say on what events you have enjoyed in the past, what you would like to see at the Village Hall in the future and hear about its financial position and hear from all the various clubs which have been holding their meetings/games/sports/dancing events over the past year. And…………perhaps, even join the Committee. Everyone welcome.

FRIDAY 6 FEBRUARY 2015Film Night will be showing “Pride” (15 Certificate) in conjunction with Village Screen and Creative Arts East. Start at 7.30 p.m. Released in 2014, this film – which lasts 2 hours –  stars Bill Nighy, Imelda Staunton, Dominic West and Paddy Considine among others and has a 15 Certificate. It is set in 1984 at the time of the Miners’ Strike and tells the story of a London-based Gay activists’ group who travel to a small Welsh mining village to fund-raise and show solidarity with the miners’ cause. FRIDAY 13 MARCH 2015Film Night, in conjunction with Village Screen and Creative Arts East, will be showing the 2014 film “What We Did on Our Holiday” (12A Certificate) starting at 7.30 p.m. The film  is based on the BBC TV Comedy series “Outnumbered” which, if you remember, dealt with three wise-cracking children and their harassed parents,  stars Rosamund Pike, Devid Tennant, Celia Imrie and Billy Connolly and lasts about 95 minutes. SATURDAY 18 APRIL 2015Liz Simcock will be appearing again at the Village Hall following her very popular concert back in September 2011. She is a popular and regular performer at folk and acoustic clubs around England and we are lucky to have her back here. Local band ‘Hollowlands’ headed by Derek Smith are the support act for the evening. Cost of tickets will be £8.00 in advance and £9.00 on the door, and Box Office is Brian on 01508 489464.

SATURDAY and SUNDAY 13 and 14 JUNE 2015Ashwellthorpe Open Gardens. Many residents will open their beautiful and well-tended gardens for the public to visit on this weekend, with the Village Hall acting as the hub for purchase of the Garden Route Map tickets and various refreshments.
