Rick and Nancy have identified a route at Tasburgh, but have yet to walk it and check it out, so details will be advised nearer the time. Distance 5 to 6 miles
Meet at Mulbarton Village Hall Car Park (which is across the road from the top side of Mulbarton Common). The route will be decided nearer the time, depending on the weather and condition of paths.
A date for your new Diary:
Sunday 3 January 2o16 – 10 a.m. from Ashwellthorpe Village Hall – the first of the 2016 walks will take the now traditional form of a social walk using public footpaths and quiet roads, enjoying also some suitable refreshments along the way, provided by Rick and Nancy to celebrate the New Year. The distance will be about 3.5 miles but the route will be decided on the day, depending on the weather conditions – unless the weather really changes in the next two weeks or so, it will be wet and muddy underfoot so please come prepared.
This is the way to keep that New Year’s Resolution up and so some exercise and enjoy it!!!!
With luck, you’ll be able to do this month’s parish walk and return to Ashwellthorpe Village Hall before the Macmillan Nurses’ Coffee Morning finishes!
The walk starts at St Nicholas Church, Fundenhall, at 10.00 a.m. (parking by kind permission of the Church) and the plan is to walk for 4 to 5 miles in the Hapton and Manor Common area – depending on weather and footpath conditions. N.B. – a section of the path on Manor Common is impassable, so Rick and Nancy will find an alternate route in the area.
Note for your Diaries – the next parish walk will be on Sunday 22 November starting at 10.00 a.m. from Potash Lane, Hethel – just past the Lotus factory.
A reminder that the next Parish walk arranged by Rick and Nancy is a Special Herbalists walk which will start at 10.00 a.m. from The Lizard car park on Sunday 9 August. It will be a shorter and slower walk than usual being led by Julie and Matthew, our local herbal experts and authors of several books on herbal plants and their uses, who aim to show us the different plants as we progress, particularly around Silfield Nature Reserve, and will explain their possible uses.
PARISH WALK – SUNDAY 5 JULY 2015 – will start from Wreningham Village Hall at 10.00 a.m. and will be between 5 and 6 miles in length, walking to Bracon Ash and Hethel. Please note that this is Wreningham’s Beer Festival weekend based at the Village Hall, which will be open when we return!
PARISH WALK – SUNDAY 9 AUGUST 2015 -Meet at the Lizard Car Park, Wymondham, at 10.00 a.m. for a shorter and slower than usual walk, to enable stops to be made to look at the interesting and useful plants growing on Silfield Nature Reserve – there will be useful information provided by our local herbalists.
Everybody is welcome
The next Parish Walk led by Rick and Nancy will leave at 10.00 a.m. from the Mulbarton car park near the Village Hall and Social Club at the top of the Common. The walk will be about 5 miles and head towards Swainsthorpe and Swardeston, using public footpaths over fields and quiet roads – please wear suitable footwear. Everybody is welcome
Future walks will be on Sunday 5 July from Wreningham Village Hall at 10.00 a.m. and Sunday 9 August from the Lizard car park, Wymondham, again at 10.00 a.m. More details of these later walks can be seen on the Leisure > Routes >Walks page.
The next parish walk, organised by Rick and Nancy, will be on Sunday 12 April 2015, leaving Carleton Rode Village Hall Car Park (Mill Road) at 10.00 a.m. It will be a 5.5 mile circular walk over public footpaths and fields towards Bunwell. Please wear suitable footwear as good weather conditions cannot be guaranteed!
Dates for the two future Parish Walks are Sunday 31 May at 10.00 a.m. leaving from the Mulbarton Common car park – approximately 5 miles and Sunday 5 July. More details on both walks later on.
The February parish walk on Sunday 22 February 2015 will meet at 10.00 a.m. from Ashwellthorpe Village Hall and will be approximately 4 miles long. The route, depending on the state of the footpaths and fields nearer the time, will hopefully wend its way towards Silfield and back. Please wear suitable footwear….it can be muddy!!!!! This is a sociable walk and everybody is welcome.
N.B. The provisional August 2014 parish walk has now been cancelled
SUNDAY 28 SEPTEMBER 2014 – meeting at 10 a.m. at the King’s Head PH Car Park (please park on the right), The Turnpike, Ashwellthorpe. This walk will be approx. 5 miles and, if the weather has not been too wet, the plan is to head over Flordon Common (which can be a bit wet under foot on occasions) and back via the path through Redwings and then past Hapton Church, arriving back at about opening time, so if you want to pop into the pub for a drink or lunch, you can!
SUNDAY 16 NOVEMBER 2014 – meeting in front of St Nicholas Church, Fundenhall, at 10 a.m., aiming to walk over to Tacolneston, but exact route will be decided nearer the time depending on the weather and the state of fields. This walk will be approximately 4 miles.
SUNDAY 4 JANUARY 2015 – The now traditional “blow your cobwebs away” New Year’s Walk will start from Ashwellthorpe Village Hall, The Street, Ashwellthorpe, at 10 a.m. and will be about 4 miles in length. The route will probably be over to Long’s Wood in Wreningham and Rick and Nancy will be providing the usual very suitable and delicious refreshments en route.
