The next Parish Walk will start from Forncett Village Hall, Low Road, Forncett St Mary, NR16 1JG, at 10.00 a.m. on Sunday 9 April 2017 and will be about 4.75 miles’ long. Quiet roads and public footpaths (some over water meadows in the Tas Valley) will be used and there are some easy stiles to cross and some small inclines on the walk. N.B. – there will probably be livestock in fields.
This is a repeat of the November 2016 walk when thick fog obscured the views but, hopefully, this time there will be better weather.
Details of the New Year Parish Walk on Sunday 8 January 2017 are given below. Other walks planned by Nancy and Rick so far are:
Sunday 5 March 2017 – Meet 10.00 a.m. at Spooner Row School and Playing Field Car Park (Sat Nav NR18 9JR). There will be a need to park carefully and, perhaps, even double park in case of other use. The walk will be circular, about 4.5 miles and partly on quiet roads and some lovely footpaths.
Sunday 9 April 2017 – Meet 10.00 a.m. at Forncett Village Hall, Low Road, Forncett St Mary (Sat Nav NR16 1JG). The walk will be about 4.5 miles’ long and will take the same route as the November 2016 walk but, hopefully, with much better views out across the Tas Valley not obscured by the thick fog which occurred in November!
Sunday 21 May 2017 – Meet 10.00 a.m. at Wreningham Village Hall, Mill Road, Wreningham (Sat Nav NR16 1AN) for a walk over water meadows and along quiet roads to Bracon Ash, returning via part of the Tas Valley Way and then quiet roads.
PLEASE WEAR APPROPRIATE FOOTWEAR
Nancy and Rick’s first parish walk of the New year celebrates the 10th Anniversary of these Parish walks and will start from Ashwellthorpe Village Hall at 10.00 a.m. The walk will not be long or fast- a sociable ramble just over 3 miles – to Long’s Wood in Wreningham and back. There will also be the chance to partake of Nancy and Rick’s festive refreshment en route.
The next Parish Walk, led by Rick and Nancy, will be on Sunday 30 October 2016 starting from Forncett Village Hall, Low Road, Forncett St Mary (NR16 1JG) at 10.00 a.m. The walk will be about 4.75 miles, using quiet roads and public footpaths (some over water meadows in the Tas Valley) and there are some easy stiles and small inclines on the route. NOTE – there will probably be livestock in the fields.
DON’T FORGET – This month’s parish walk will start at 10.00 a.m. this coming Sunday 25 September, from Mulbarton Village Hall car park (off the road at the top of the Common). It will be 4.8 miles in length, heading towards Tasburgh on quiet roads and public footpaths – some of which might just have been cultivated and paths not reinstated.
The July parish walk will start at 10 a.m. from Tasburgh Village Hall, Grove Lane, Tasburgh NR15 1LR, on Sunday 31 July 2016 – permission has been given to use their car park. The walk will be 5.5 miles mainly on quiet country roads but with a short stretch past Duffield’s Mill on a good footpath beside the A140.

A date for your new Diary:
Sunday 3 January 2o16 – 10 a.m. from Ashwellthorpe Village Hall – the first of the 2016 walks will take the now traditional form of a social walk using public footpaths and quiet roads, enjoying also some suitable refreshments along the way, provided by Rick and Nancy to celebrate the New Year. The distance will be about 3.5 miles but the route will be decided on the day, depending on the weather conditions – unless the weather really changes in the next two weeks or so, it will be wet and muddy underfoot so please come prepared.
This is the way to keep that New Year’s Resolution up and so some exercise and enjoy it!!!!
With luck, you’ll be able to do this month’s parish walk and return to Ashwellthorpe Village Hall before the Macmillan Nurses’ Coffee Morning finishes!
The walk starts at St Nicholas Church, Fundenhall, at 10.00 a.m. (parking by kind permission of the Church) and the plan is to walk for 4 to 5 miles in the Hapton and Manor Common area – depending on weather and footpath conditions. N.B. – a section of the path on Manor Common is impassable, so Rick and Nancy will find an alternate route in the area.
Note for your Diaries – the next parish walk will be on Sunday 22 November starting at 10.00 a.m. from Potash Lane, Hethel – just past the Lotus factory.
