Bramble Bears Playgroup, which uses Ashwellthorpe Village Hall, will be celebrating its 50TH ANNIVERSARY at the Village Hall from 11.00 a.m. until 3.00 p.m. on SATURDAY 28 APRIL 2018. The celebration will include refreshments, Bramble Bears Hunt, Anniversary Display, Celebration cake, village memories and a Raffle.
If your child attends/attended Bramble Bears (formerly Ashwellthorpe Playgroup/Preschool) or you know anyone who does/did OR you live in or around Ashwellthorpe – please contact Bramble Bears to lend your memories/photos/memorabilia so we can make a Community 50th Anniversary display board of the village playgroup. The international Shuffleboard Match between UK, Canada, Norway and United States of America to be held at St Andrew’s Hall in Norwich from Tuesday 24 to Friday 27 April 2018, will feature four members of the Ashwellthorpe Shuffleboard club in the UK team – Alan Dawson, Rosemary Lee, Gordon Robbie and Liz Saunders. The Ashwellthorpe club closed on Wednesday 14 March this year, so this will be the last time Ashwellthorpe members will feature in this International match.
The April meeting of Ashwellthorpe Gardening Club will be on SUNDAY 8 APRIL from 2.00 to 4.00 p.m. and will take the form of a visit to the garden of Richard Hobbs and Sally Ward at Witton Lane Seeds, 16 Witton Lane, Little Plumstead, NR13 5DL Richard Hobbs was the speaker at the February meeting of the Club and the garden is open as part of the National Gardens Scheme, with light refreshments being served.
Admission will be paid by the Gardening Club for all members who renew their subscription for 2018; otherwise it will be £3.00 for non-members.

A pleasant morning could be spent by visiting the Coffee Morning and Second Hand Book Sale at All Saints’ Church in Ashwellthorpe, starting at 10.00 a.m. Home-made cakes and other refreshments will be available.
