There are still tickets available for the next film in Ashwellthorpe Village Hall’s Autumn season this Saturday evening – 21 October 2017. In conjunction with Village Screen and Creative Arts East, the film to be shown is the 2017 “The Zookeeper’s Wife” starring Johan Heldenbergh Jessica Chastain, Daniel Bruhl and Timothy Radford and is the true story about the Keepers of Warsaw Zoo who saved hundreds of people and animals during the 2nd World War Occupation.
The film has a PG 13 certificate and is of 2 hours and 7 minutes’ duration. Tickets are £4.00 in advance from Box Office 01508 481712 and £5.00 on the door on the night.

is the date of the next meeting of the Ashwellthorpe Gardening Club when the Speaker will be Trevor Harrison from the Creake Plant Centre, based in South Creake, which specialises in unusual shrubs, and herbaceous plants, old roses and hellebores amongst others.

Sad to say the last performance by the Ashwren Players will happen this SATURDAY night, the 23 SEPTEMBER with Curtains Up at 7.30 p.m.

Rick and Nancy’s next Parish Walk will meet at 10.00 a.m. at St Nicholas Church, Fundenhall, on Sunday 24 September 2017. The walk will be approx. 5 to 6 miles and if the weather has not been too wet, it is planned to head over Flordon Common (which can be wet) and back via the path through Redwing’s and then past Hapton Church. You might think Ashwellthorpe and Fundenhall is within the Wymondham Neighbourhood Team of Norfolk Constabulary, but the two villages are in fact part of the Long Stratton Neighbourhood area.
In the light of this, the Parish Council has been advised that the police team are holding a “Street Surgery” (where you can raise any issues or concerns) on Monday 4 September 2017 from 2.00 to 4.00 p.m. at the Co-Op store in Long Stratton.
The Parish Council has received an information sheet from Norfolk Constabulary about “Cuckooing, “a term used to describe the practice where professional drug dealers take over the property of a vulnerable person and use it as a place from which to run their drugs business”, a copy of which can be seen on the Community Information Page
Please note that Norfolk County Council has made a Temporary Traffic Order closing the Wymondham Road in Ashwellthorpe, west of the New Road junction, for tree felling on
TUESDAY 29 AUGUST 2017.
Tree felling is required at the C594 Silfield Road (what we call Wymondham Road) from the Junction with C347 New Road for 181 metres north westwards. Traffic over that road is prohibited on 29 August 2017 for the duration of the works, expected to be about 1 day.
The official alternative route is: C594 Silfield Road, C594 Station Road, C175 Ayton Road, C175 Browick Road, C186 Stanfield Road, C186 Wymondham Road, B 1113 Norwich Road, C594 Wymondham Road, C594 The Street.
