The amount raised from the House-to-House and Industrial Estate collection in Ashwellthorpe and the collection boxes placed in Woodstock Hair Fashions and the Kings Head and White Horse Public Houses came to £426.45 this year. To this is added the amount of £60.00 given by Ashwellthorpe and Fundenhall Parish Council for the provision of the Poppy Crosses which commemorate each of the men killed in the 1st and 2nd World Wars. Thus, the total Poppy collection raised £486.45 – a record and very generous amount. The poppy crosses were placed around Ashwellthorpe War Memorial outside All Saints’ Church and the War Memorial in Fundenhall inside St Nicholas Church on 10 November.

Thanks very much to Carole and Richard Bradford, Lin Packer, Marie Weiner and Jennifer Robbie for the house-to-house and industrial estate collection; and to Pauline Downes of Woodstock, the Kings Head and White Horse for having collecting tins and poppies in their premises. And especial thanks to all of you who donated to the collection and raised this amount.
