16 May 2011 – An epic journey originally made by the late Denny Denley – one of the Founders of what is now known as Disabled Motoring UK – is to be recreated in June this year. In 1947, Mr Denley, who died last year, used an Argson hand-powered mobility tricycle to travel 1500 miles from England to Switzerland and the route is to be retraced by officials from Disabled Motoring UK HQ, which is based in Ashwellthorpe and which campaigns on behalf of disabled drivers.

The trike is usually on show at the HQ offices here, but is at present being serviced and MOT’d at the barracks at Swanton Morley. Villagers are welcome to the HQ in Ashwellthorpe to see the start of this trek, and to give the participants a rousing send-off on THURSDAY 2 JUNE 2011 at 11.00 a.m. Please come along.
