2012 – TWO INNOVATIVE EVENTS FOR ASHWELLTHORPE VILLAGE HALL

FRIDAY 23 MARCH 2012DMUK Alpine Challenge

Disabled Motoring UK, formerly the Disabled Drivers’ Association, has been part of the Ashwellthorpe scene for many years. Their national HQ is still neighbour to Ashwellthorpe Hall, which the DDA ran for some time as a hotel with special facilities for its members, and it was from the HQ that the DMUK Alpine Challenge set off in June 2011 to recreate and commemorate the 1947 pioneering drive to and through the Alps in an invalid carriage. Local media covered the start and a DVD is currently (November 2011) being edited and which Robert Kerr, DMUK’s Direct Marketing Manager will be coming along to present at the Village Hall – possibly bringing the veteran machine that was used on the expedition. The proceeds of the event will be shared by DMUK and the Village Hall.

SATURDAY 21 APRIL 2012 – BROADSIDE REVIVAL BARBERSHOP QUARTET

Hearing their lunch-time recital at Wymondham Abbey in July 2011 inspired the thought that this male-voice, a capella  group would be an ideal booking for the Village Hall and the group has responded enthusiastically to the suggestion. The Revival is part of the Norwich Barbershop Harmony Club and its largest choir, Fine City Chorus, and the strength of this background is evident in the range of their repertoire and the quality of their musicianship. Proceeds will go to Village Hall Funds.

Deails on times, prices of tickets and box office telephone numbers will appear on this page and in the Events Calendar nearer the time.
