The amount of money raised from the house-to-house and Ashwellthorpe Industrial Estate collections, together with the collection boxes placed in Woodstock Hair Fashions and the Kings Head and White Horse Public Houses came to £461.83 – the greatest amount raised for the Poppy Appeal in Ashwellthorpe. To this is added the amount of £50.00 given by Ashwellthorpe and Fundenhall Parish Council – for the provision of poppy crosses which are placed around the Ashwellthorpe War Memorial outside All Saints’ Church, Ashwellthorpe, and the War Memorial inside St Nicholas Church, Fundenhall, to commemorate each of the men killed in the 1st and 2nd World Wars. Thus the total amount raised was a massive £511.83.
Thanks very much to Liz Ball, Carole and Richard Bradford, Annette Bunting, Lin Packer and Jennifer Robbie for carrying out the house-to-house and industrial estate collections, and to Pauline Downes of Woodstock Hair Fashions, the Kings Head and White Horse pubs for having the collecting tins and poppies on their premises. And, especial thanks to all of you who donated to make this collection so worthwhile.
