The Ashwellthorpe squad of 38 residents, plus or minus, made their first ever foray into the South Norfolk round of Norfolk’s Village Games on Sunday 9 June held at Framingham Earl Community Sports Centre. Teams were entered of all ages in Archery, Athletics, Badminton, Darts, Football, Rounders, Short Mat Bowls, Table Tennis and Triathlon. The competition was divided into categories of Small Villages, Medium Villages or Large Villages/Market Towns and Ashwellthorpe was one of nine teams in the small village section. After several hours of fierce competition, Ashwellthorpe came a very creditable 5th with 49 points. The winning village team was Aslacton and Great Moulton – who also won in 2012 –  with 84 points followed by The Forncetts with 82 points in second place. Well done the Team!
