The first meeting of the Gardening Club in 2017 will be on Tuesday 7 February starting at 7.30 p.m. –  this time at Ashwellthorpe Village Hall so that the speaker can make use of the fixed large screen for his power point talk. The speaker is Jaime Blake from Bressingham Gardens, talking on ‘Alan Bloom……..a thinker and a doer’ and it will trace Alan Bloom’s life from relatively humble beginnings to the founding of the Bloom name in horticulture and in steam preservation. (Jaime says “don’t worry, the Steam side of things isn’t a key part of the talk”). He hopes “to explore some of Alan Bloom’s motivations and how they came to be formed from his early experiences of his Nursery and farming activities in Cambridgeshire. It also considers some of the personal and professional relationships he had and how they influenced him and were influenced by him.The talk has a broad appeal as it is not plant specific”
